The Midrand-based company, Construction Education and Training Authority’s management team bid farewell to 33 students from various TVET Colleges within the Civil Engineering Faculty all over the country on 21 June at OR Tambo International Airport.
According to Construction Education and Training Authority (Ceta), the company signed an agreement with the Chinese Culture and International Education Exchange Centre to recruit 300 students who will be placed in Chinese construction companies to do internship programmes and gain experimental learning required for their studies.
The aim of the company is to provide skills development services to the construction sector, however, they have also committed to assisting the successful interns to find employment opportunities affiliated to their studies upon their return from China.
Furthermore, the company reported that the programme will assist the candidates to progress to more technical occupations and to be equipped to compete in the employment market.
